Why Wait??? TMB encourages people to start to “Make THE Difference” now
Unleash the power within you to improve your world

Bangkok – 14 May 2012 – Following last year’s worldwide success of its inspirational corporate brand television commercial, “Panyee FC”, TMB Bank is now taking the message one step further by challenging the public in Thailand not to procrastinate to Make THE Difference. People have the power to improve their individual lives right away. The newest corporate brand commercial is a call to action for people to realize that they are empowered and to leverage this power to push themselves towards positive actions in their lives immediately.

Paradai Theerathada, Executive Vice President, head of TMB Corporate Communications said “Public response to the first ‘Make THE Difference’ corporate brand commercial showed that people felt inspired by the boys on Panyee but the question was whether they translated that inspiration into action. Our findings show that the majority of Thai people still rely on external forces and/or superstitious beliefs to improve their lives for them. These ‘forces’ could include family intervention to a lucky colour or even a fortuitous number that leads to a winning lottery ticket. This commercial was specifically designed to shift people’s behaviour by communicating that all individuals have the inner power to act constructively now to make the difference instead of waiting to improve their lives.”

TMB’s new advertising campaign employed a unique strategy by empowering the online community to choose between two versions of the commercial by casting their votes during a three week period prior to actual airing date. Thousands participated and voted for the version they felt had the strongest script to drive their fellow Thais to act now. The winning version, entitled “Why Wait to Make THE Difference?”, received over 70 per cent of the votes and will be going on air from today onwards.

Also participating in the launch event was Navin ‘Tar’ Yavapolkul, a singer, actor, royal scholarship student and now university lecturer, who shared his Make THE Difference turning point that changed him from his old life as a problem child to a constructive person who is now successful at studying, work, and in his personal life.

“I think that most of us know the principles that we need to aspire towards as well as the difference between right and wrong, but something always seems to get in the way of improving yourself and the world around you whether it’s fear, excuses or misdirected attitudes,” he commented.

“However, if we really believe that we have the power within each of us to do something good for ourselves and the people we love, we definitely can Make THE Difference, and what we get in return may be even greater than what we expect.”

Following the launch of the bank’s new corporate brand television commercial, TMB plans to bring their brand philosophy of “Make THE Difference” into the minds of a wider audience through a series of activities that engages and empowers the nation to experience the philosophy and take action in a more hands-on way.

About ‘Make THE Difference’
TMB’s ‘Make THE Difference’ philosophy is a belief that every individual has the inner power to make a positive change in their immediate world. These improvements need not be on a large, massive scale, but rather, finding areas of improvement in an individual’s personal life whether it be at home, at work and/or with their community. It’s about looking at the status quo and challenging it in order to find better ways of doing the ordinary. It’s not about merely making any difference just for the sake of being different. Rather, it is about a desire to go beyond the norm.

TMB inspired Thailand and also the world by introducing the ‘Make THE Difference’ television commercial in February 2011. The TMB corporate brand advertisement was based on true events of a group of young islanders on Panyee island, who against all odds, overcame many obstacles including having no flat land on which to play football, to become third place finishers in a regional football championship. The power of these children inspired ongoing generations of children to become regional champions for the next seven consecutive years. The advertisement has been well received all over the world winning many prestigious awards and recognitions including receiving a Bronze award at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in addition to achieving over 2 millions views on YouTube.

ITACET Training Course : TUNNELLING IN URBAN AREAS BY 19 GURUS

18 and 19 May 2012 (8.00-18.30 น.)
Meeting Room 1-2, Second Floor, Zone B ,QSNCC

The World Tunnel Congress 2012 is pleased to introduce ITACET Training Course : TUNNELLING IN URBAN AREAS BY 19 GURUS . The 19 course instructors are the World’s top gurus in tunnelling and underground construction . Upon completion of two days course, participants will receive the certificates from ITACET Foundation endorsed by ITA and the Engineering Institute of Thailand as part of the Continuous Professional Development(CPD).

Organized By :
• ITA-CET Foundation (Foundation for Education and Training on Tunnelling and Underground
Space Use)
• International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association(ITA-AITES)
• Thailand Underground and Tunnelling Group (TUTG) of the Engineering Institute of Thailand under his H.M. the King’s Patronage (EIT)
Why is the development of underground space important for Urban Areas ?
• More than half the population of the world now lives in urban area. It is expected that urban
population will grow rapidly in the next decades – 70% of world population will be living in the
cities in 2050.
• Most of the modern cities around the world need to cope with this rapid
urbanization while at the same time protecting large concentrations of people from natural
disasters and the effect of climate change

Underground infrastructures contributes to sustainability of the urban environment in many
ways;
• saving natural resources, including land, water, and biodiversity
• reducing air pollution (mainly in the transport sector, though also for others, such as
underground sewage treatment facilities)
• creating opportunities for less energy use and waster generation
• creating structures less impacted by earthquakes
• enhancing of overall landscape and environmental quality

Objectives of the Course
• To present the design and construction approaches for tunnelling in urban areas.
• The course highlights the most important design and construction methods with reference to urban tunnelling, with special attention devoted to mechanise tunnelling and to the constraints imposed by urban tunnelling (settlement and damage control, risk management, watertight tunnels, building and infrastructure effects).

KBank underscores its leadership in credit cards by launching “Spend 1,000 Baht, Get 1,000 Baht” promotion with three leading department stores

KASIKORNBANK is launching campaigns to boost card spending for this year to 205 billion Baht, a jump of 36 percent, including the “Your Daily Happiness” campaign which offers “Dine, Travel and Shop 1 Get 1 Free”. Moreover, with Central Department Store, Paragon and Robinson as its partners, KBank is offering a 1,000 Baht gift voucher for the first 1,000 customers who make 1,000 Baht in purchases every Friday, for the entire year. The Bank has set a target of 500,000 new credit cardholders this year.

Mr. Pakorn Partanapat, Executive Vice President of KASIKORNBANK, said KBank plans to boost card spending for the whole year by launching campaigns under the concept of “K-Credit Card for Your Daily Happiness”. Under the campaigns, the Bank aims to see card spending at 205 billion Baht in 2012, for growth of 36 percent, maintaining the Bank’s top position of the credit card with the highest spending. The credit card number is expected to reach 2.37 million cards, for an increase of 20 percent. A new credit card advertisement will be launched to underline the Bank’s outstanding and unique position.

For the rest of 2012, campaigns will be introduced to provide privileges to customers, starting with “Thank Card It’s Friday” for customers shopping at three leading department stores, namely Central Chidlom, Paragon and Robinson Rama IX.Under this year-long campaign, the first 1,000 customers who each make 1,000 Baht in purchases at one of these three department stores every Friday will get a 1,000 Baht gift voucher. In addition, the “Your Daily Happiness” campaign offers “Dine, Travel and Shop 1 Get 1 Free” from participating partners including leading restaurants, hotels and resorts nationwide, and leading name-brand merchants, until December 31, 2012.

Mr. Pakorn added that with the Bank’s consistent study of cardholders’ lifestyles and spending habits, these campaigns are expected to be warmly welcomed by K-Credit Card customers, boosting card spending via dining, traveling and shopping by at least 37 percent. So far, similar campaigns launched by the Bank and its leading business partners that accommodate customers’ lifestyles and daily spending habits have been very successful.

To boost credit card numbers, KBank plans to focus on diverse channels including its more than 800 branches, diverse marketing activities, more than 3,000 sales agents, and electronic channels. Moreover, the Bank also aims to launch new co-branded credit cards with major business partners within this year in order to cover all customer lifestyles.

Buffalo™ Inc. launches all-new AirStation™ HighPower, a redesigned, eco-friendly wireless-N ...

Buffalo™ Inc. launches all-new AirStation™ HighPower, a redesigned, eco-friendly wireless-N router that triples Wi-Fi coverage and maximizes reliability

BANGKOK, May, 2012 – Buffalo™ Inc. is now introducing the latest AirStation™ HighPower to Thai customers, a Wireless-N router and Access Point for the home and small office.

A conductor for exceptional download speeds and the ability to boost Wi-Fi ranges up to 3 times, the AirStation™ HighPower still appeals aesthetically with its sleek, slim minimalist design. It also sets itself apart from competitors with its eco-friendly nature, reducing up to 28% of energy consumption, as well as offering other user friendly features to fit all lifestyles.

“The AirStation™ HighPower’s exceptional performance makes it ideal for the modern family home because in addition to being a great primary Wi-Fi router, it can also be connected to existing wireless routers as an extender to eliminate dead spots common in homes and boost surf speeds and reliability,” said Mr Atsuo Shibata, Buffalo Inc.’s country manager for Thailand.

The AirStation™ HighPower is able to cover such large areas with fast, reliable Wi-Fi because of its double detachable 8dBi antennas. The antennas ensure more stable downloads and surfing because of the ability to bypass obstacles which typically reduce the strength of wireless transmissions. This reliability allows for smooth wireless transmission of videos and music between personal computers, MacBooks® and mobile devices.

Superior wireless LAN range and capability up to six times normal download speeds
With Buffalo’s HighPower technology, the AirStation™ HighPower provides high performance and powerful data transfer in the home or small office. It serves to eliminate or reduce dead Wi-Fi spots in the environment by increasing download speeds by up to six times (and three times an increase in Wi-Fi range compared to the previous model). The router even works as an extender to expand wireless coverage with any router regardless of brand.

Simple three-step, CD-less setup with a personal “Admin Card”
Setting up the router is as easy and seamless as the high speed streaming it makes possible. The router setup uses a web-based setup wizard, without the need for a CD. A personal ‘Admin Card’ with a unique individual SSID code comes upon purchase of the router. Connect the router to the computer and modem, simply input the SSID and the router is ready to use.
AOSS™ technology for one button setup with enabled devices and Android smartphones
The Buffalo™ proprietary AOSS™ (AirStation One-Touch Secure System) detects all AOSS™ enabled devices and clients and configures them to the highest level of security possible for both router and device. The AOSS™ also works with Android technology including mobile smart phones, for uninterrupted, quicker streaming of high definition media.

Eco-friendly technology saves up to 28% in energy consumption
The AirStation™ HighPower can be set to suit Thai consumers’ different lifestyles and reduce energy consumption up to 28%. Featuring an “Eco-Mode” that allows you to programme the AirStation™ to shut down during pre-determined time frames when the house or office is unoccupied and automatically turn itself on when needed. The AOSS™ button also allows you to immediately switch on your router in the event you find yourself at home or in the office during these times.

Compatibility with both Windows and Mac OS
Unlike some brands that can only be setup with certain Windows operating systems, the AirStation™ HighPower is compatible with operating systems ranging from Windows 2000 to Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.4 to 10.7.

Aesthetic appeal
At a mere approximate length of 12cm and 2cm in thickness, the AirStation™ HighPower is compact and sleek. Its pearl-white chassis is stylish and chic, blends effortlessly into any environment and would match any Apple® setup perfectly. And at only 210 grams, the lightweight device can be placed on shelves or higher areas without any worry.

The all-new AirStation™ HighPower retails for THB 1,799and will be available starting May 10. Buffalo™ provides a three-year warranty on the AirStation™ HighPower, keeping the mind at ease in case of unexpected events.
